About Chichester Hockey Club
Chichester Hockey Club currently has an average yearly membership exceeding
300, comprising playing and social members together with their families.
Each Saturday between September and April the Club fields 8 mens teams,
4 ladies teams and 3 junior development teams playing league hockey
and U8s, U10s & U12s teams playing tournament hockey. During the week
we provide a full coaching programme from Under 8s through to the Ladies
and Mens
1st XIs.
The Mens 1st XI plays in the South Premier League Division 1 and the
Ladies 1st XI plays in the Sussex League Premier Division. Club fixtures
are
played throughout Berkshire, Hampshire, Kent, East and West Sussex, Surrey
and London - the higher league teams travel nationwide.
The Hockey Club is combined with the Chichester
and Priory Park Cricket Club to create the Chichester Priory Park Cricket and Hockey
Club. The Cricket Club, founded in 1851, has a membership similar to
that of the Hockey Club, and whilst hockey is predominantly an
Autumn/Winter/Spring sport, cricket obviously dominates the Summer season.
In addition, the Club incorporates the Chichester Bowls Club,
adding further to the diversity of the Club, as well as to the membership
numbers and use of the clubhouse.
The Club has a full social calendar for all ages, from fireworks & conkers
to Dinner & Dance, supporting the core function of playing hockey.
The result is a social melting pot of different generations of sportsmen
and women who all have one thing in common: to enjoy the
competitiveness and sociability of team sport.
